Throughout the years, we have always provided our customers with the opportunity to tweak, change and customize their amps. After looking at our available models and reading what we have to offer, customers have had the amp of their dreams created in our custom shop.

The Starline

When a customer knows what sound they desire in a custom amp, we really try to deliver. This is how our custom model, The Starline, was created.

Recently, a customer who owns an Aurora 34 (basically an AstroDust with EL34s) wanted to see if one of our newer models could provide him with the clean channel he imagined in his head. Being that the customer plays Humbucker guitars, mainly 335s, we suggested that he try a Magica for the blackface style-clean channel. He loved the clean of the Magica, but really wanted to keep the option of the overdrive of the Aurora 34 with its fat harmonic bliss.

With that knowledge in mind, we went to work designing a true, two-channel amp that has a blackface clean and a tweed channel fed overdrive. The tweed channel cascades into the overdrive section creating one overdrive channel with limitless adjustment. For those familiar with our current amps, think of the vast tonal variations of squeezing the clean channel of a Magica into a BluesMachine with an EL34 power section. If you own or have played some of our older models, you might remember the OpenRange and the BlackVerb Duo. Those amps had two different overdrives – one was “edge”, and one was “body”. The edge channel was what we referred to as the “rock” overdrive which was also used in the Aurora and CD Series of amps. The Starline has the “edge” or “rock” overdrive in it as well.

To recap, The Starline features a ’60s inspired, American clean channel of the Magica, the first overdrive channel of an Aurora34, fed by a tweed clean channel, into our tube buffered loop, then into a custom, smoother yet “English” sounding phase inverter, and finally out to an EL34 power section. All hand-built, tube-powered, classic tone. Think back to Page, Beck, Clapton, Kossoff…

It’s all in there just waiting for you to bring it out in your music. Jump on board the Starline and relive the golden era of guitar rock!
