Black-n-Blues

The Black-n-Blues: where the BlackVerb meets the BluesMachine. Reintroduced and updated.

This dual-voice amp features the option to choose black panel tones of the past or the thicker tweed sounds of the 1950’s and 1960’s. Either of these voices can feed the drive channel giving the player almost limitless tonal combinations. 50 watts of all tube power from a pair of 6L6 tubes.

Black Channel Features:

• Volume – adjusts the input level for the channel.
• Treble – adjusts the high frequencies.
• Middle – adjusts the mid frequencies and also pulls out as a deep switch.
• Bass – adjusts lower frequencies and can be turned off to bypass the tone stack.
• 6-way Mode Switch – (Funk, Normal, Fat) each has 2 positions for various vintage midrange frequencies.
• 3-way Bright Switch – As the name implies, extends the upper frequencies.
  

Blues Channel Features:

• Volume – adjusts the input level for the channel and also pulls out for bright option.
• Gain – adjusts the input level with the volume and can induce a bit of drive.
• Tone – adjusts the overall character of the tone to emphasize highs (turning clockwise) or lows (turning counter clockwise).
• 6-way Mode Switch – (Black, Brown, Tweed)
  

Overdrive Channel Features:

• Gain – adjusts the input level for the overdrive channel.
• Drive – adjusts the amount of overdrive (pull pot – when pulled out favors upper mids, more “M” like. When pushed in lower mids, more “D” like.)
• Level – adjust the overall volume for the overdrive channel (pull pot – rolls off the top end for a smoother drive sound).

Other Features:

• Presence – controls the upper frequency “sheen” and can be turned off to bypass the negative feedback loop.
• Master Volume – adjusts overall output.
• Pedal Friendly input.
• 50 Watt/40 Watt (fixed/cathode) Switch – 50 watt mode higher clean headroom and bias can be set on the back panel. 40 watt mode drops the output slightly with less clean headroom. In 40 watt mode, 6V6 tubes can be substituted for the standard 6L6 tubes providing approximately 20 watts of output.
• Impedance Selector – 2, 4, 8, 16 ohm speaker load options.
• Tube Buffered Effects Loop – fully buffered all tube loop that works with both pedals and rack effects.
• Boost Control – Level control for the amount of boost for the black channel only. The blues channel is a fixed boost.
• Reverb Control – adjusts the level of reverb (2 tube, 3 spring). Can be turned off to bypass reverb circuit completely.
• Humbucker Switches – One each for Black and Blues channels with each adjusting low-mid tone (the difference between single coil and Humbucker pickups)
• 4-Button foot switch – The foot switch lets you choose Black/Blues, Drive on/off, Boost on/off, and Mid-Boost on/off (similar to setting either mode switch to position 6).
